I.
A street without trees is not a street.
It is an open-air oven. We are taking it back, meter by meter, root by root.
We paved over the canopy. We called it progress. We are calling it back. One million trees. In city streets. Within 10 years.
001 — Manifesto
I.
It is an open-air oven. We are taking it back, meter by meter, root by root.
II.
It cools cities by ten degrees. It saves lives. It costs less than asphalt. Plant accordingly.
III.
We plant for future generations. This is the opposite of an air conditioner.
IV.
A city worth living in is a city worth walking through. The tree is the oldest, simplest, most honest piece of urban furniture we have.
V.
Urban forests are good. Parks are good. But they do not shade the pavement where you walk.
VI.
The pipes. The leaves. The neighbours. The listed facades. No reason holds in a city at fifty degrees.
VII.
A tree takes twenty years to cast shade. Plant today, your children will thank you. Wait, and they will blame you.
VIII.
Heat hits hardest those with no garden, no air conditioning, no country house. The hottest streets are almost always the least green. That is not an accident. Every street deserves its trees.
IX.
Not when everything is perfect. Not when budgets allow. Not when a full plan exists. Now. Here. Because every year lost does not come back.
The pledge
1 million trees.
In city streets.
Within 10 years.
